HAI ROBOTICS, the pioneer in Autonomous Case-handling Robot (ACR) systems for warehouse logistics, has successfully deployed ACR systems in Philips' Smart Factory in Zhuhai since April 2022. Impressed by the system's flexibility and HAI ROBOTICS' pragmatic practices, Philips is also considering more ACR applications in other factories.

Philips Zhuhai has long been known for its commitment to bringing quality healthcare products to local communities. HAI ROBOTICS' innovative ACR systems supported small-sized raw material handling for Philips smart warehouse, driving greater operational efficiency, higher storage density, and accuracy.

Implementing ACR systems ensures that the warehouse operations of Philips are optimized and efficiencies increase, keeping the business agile to inevitable changes while dealing with labor shortages.

A trustworthy collaboration since 2019

ACR systems are specially designed and developed for handling cases (totes and cartons of different sizes). After evaluating several robotics solutions, Philips agreed that ACR systems were the right fit for picking and handling its small-sized raw materials for the company's high-end manufacturing and healthcare products.

In 2019, Philips Zhuhai took a crucial first step in collaborating with HAI ROBOTICS on a proof of concept (POC), solving the problem of inventory waste and raw material accumulation. This project proved ACR systems' effectiveness and reliability and led to the project's expansion to a second stage.

Next-gen warehouse automation, from fixed to flexible

Usually, most automation solutions use QR codes to identify cases and to set the robot's navigation routes. However, with over 110,000 cases in Philips' warehouse and a large number of QR codes that needed to be stuck on cases manually at the initial stage, manpower shortage became a new challenge.

HAI ROBOTICS offered an upgraded solution using new scheduling algorithms. With only a few cases that needed QR codes to be manually stuck, the upgraded solution guaranteed accurate case retrieval and robot navigation with no burden of increased labor demand.

According to Philips Zhuhai, HAI ROBOTICS' ACR systems maximized the factory's material flow efficiency with intelligent picking, handling, and flexible in-outbound logistics. The systems also streamlined the operations and promoted productivity among warehouse workers.
